Rant on Linkin Park AMVs.

Alright, so. I make AMVs (animated/anime music videos) and post them on YouTube from time to time. They’re not particularly special, but I am proud of them for this reason: the music on them is not completely over-used or annoying or repetitive.

The artists I’ve used in my AMVs are:
Siouxsie and the Banshees (x2)
The Doors
Blind Guardian
Children of Bodom
Sublime
Catch 22
KMFDM
Nightwish
Bjork
The Distillers

My main bone to pick is with the Avatar fans who make AMVs to songs by Linkin Park. It’s hideously annoying going through entire pages of Linkin Park AMVs for Avatar — or for anything for that matter!

Will someone please explain to me why Linkin Park is such a popular choice for AMV-makers?! I don’t have too much against Linkin Park; I just don’t like them. Hah — I thought they were overplayed on the radio. YouTube is just as bad, apparently. When you search “linkin park avatar amv,” you get SO MANY. The first fifteen pages — I kid you not! — the first fifteen pages are filled with them! And half of them are to that song “In the End.”

Someone please explain to me what is so appealing about hundreds of videos that are essentially the SAME THING.

Why even make a video like that if you’re just going to be sucked into a crowd of other people that did almost the exact same thing?

Anyway, I think that’s all for now. I’m gonna go read or something.
… And not listen to Linkin Park.

Thank you, thank you. I was scared thtt I was the only one that felt that way, especially since people keep making them. But to answer your question about why it’s a popular choice for AMV, apparently because it expresses dark emotions that are relatable to conflicts in general, especially animes which are built on confilcts.

Personally though, I think that the songs are so vauge that it’s easy to find a way to realate to it. But still, you would think that all the kids making these video’s would learn. The funniest part though is seeing at least one person commenting, asking “who sings this song?” And at that point you know that Linkin Park just got themselves another impressionable child.
